A 14-year-old boy has been charged with two counts of sexual assault after allegedly groping girls as he sped past them on his BMX bicycle.

The boy, who was arrested by York Regional Police, is accused of inappropriately touching a 17-year-old girl who was walking with her mother near Yonge Street and Bristol Road in Newmarket on July 25.

On Aug. 5, the suspect is accused of touching another girl who was walking in the same area, police said.

Police interviewed witnesses and identified the suspect.

He cannot be named because of his age and is being held in custody until a bail hearing.
