BOSTON - Jose Bautista has written his name into the Toronto Blue Jays' record books.

The slugger broke the team's single season home run mark Friday with his 48th of the year.

Bautista, who leads the majors in home runs, passed George Bell's total of 47 set in 1987.

The two-run shot in the sixth inning off Boston Red Sox right-hander Michael Bowden came on a full count.

The blast went into the seats above Fenway Park's famous Green Monster to give the Blue Jays a 10-2 lead.
