Toronto police have released the autopsy results of the three victims in a double murder-suicide last weekend.

Police were called to a townhouse apartment at 50 Green Belt Dr., near Lawrence Avenue and Don Mills Road, on Saturday night to a fire.

After the blaze was put out, investigators found three bodies inside, two women and man.

On Friday, police said the 46-year-old woman died from a stab wound to her heart, the 70-year-old woman was strangled and the 41-year-old man died from smoke inhalation.

Police are not releasing the names of the victims, but neighbours said they were a husband, wife and the woman's mother.

A three-year-old boy, identified as the man's son, was found at the scene with a note in his hand that said, "This is my confession. There is a tape in the car."

The child was taken into the care of the Children's Aid Society but was expected to stay with his aunt in Mississauga.

Investigators said the fire spread quickly, and later determined an accelerant was used.

Police said they had responded to calls at the home before for reports of domestic violence.

The deaths mark Toronto's 18th and 19th homicides of the year.
