Auto theft suspects crash into unmarked cruiser, Toronto police allege
Toronto police say they have arrested two suspects accused of stealing a vehicle and then crashing into an unmarked police cruiser in Scarborough early Friday morning.
According to police, officers were called to the area of Warden Avenue and Bridletowne Circle, north of Finch Avenue, for a report of a stolen vehicle in the area,
Officers arrived on scene and blocked the vehicle in question in a parking spot in the area.
“The driver of the vehicle then collided with an unmarked police vehicle,” police said in a news release.
The suspects, police allege, attempted to flee the area on foot but after a foot pursuit, officers arrested both suspects.
Police said they found a firearm and magazine on one of the suspects as well as auto theft tools.
The two suspects are now facing several charges, including theft of a motor-vehicle, possession of a restricted firearm, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
They are scheduled to attend bail hearings in Toronto on Friday.
