An autistic child is safe after he wandered away from his Mississauga home Friday morning.

The boy, who is believed to be about 5 or 6 years old, was found wandering the Burnhamthorpe and Cawthra roads area by a concerned citizen who immediately called 911.

Police say the boy was not wearing shoes when he was found and would not speak to officers. However, he was in good medical condition,.

His parents were notified a short time later and the boy returned home with his father. The child's parents told police this was not the first time the boy wandered away from home.
