Toronto police have arrested a suspect in connection to a shooting that closed down the Scarborough Town Centre bus bay on Monday.

Officials say a male in his late teens or early 20s was reportedly shot in the torso shortly before 4 p.m. somewhere in the mall's southern bus loop. The shooting occurred inside a bus and temporarily closed down TTC bus and SRT line service to the station on Monday.

Authorities say they located the suspect at a residence in Scarborough. The adult male faces various charges including attempted murder, according to police. Authorities have not released the name of the suspect.

The victim is in stable condition at Sunnybrook Hospital.

A silver gun was found in a trash can at a house less than two kilometres away on Lynnbrook Drive on Monday.

Anne-Marie Brown, the resident who found the gun, says she had arrived home to shocking news and now feels scared.

"I came home and this man, my neighbour, told me that somebody ran through my backyard. That's all I know."

Police emptied a bullet from the gun's chamber, and say they will test the gun to confirm it was used in the shooting. Authorities brought in a canine unit to help track down the suspect.

Police are asking residents with further information to contact them at 416-808-4300.
