The Toronto Humane Society reopened Monday after a months-long overhaul of the River Street facility and the group of officials managing it.
THS was shuttered in November following a raid by animal control officers. Several members of the former board were accused of animal negligence.
Charges against them have not been proven in court.
At the end of May, a new board was appointed. Michael Downey was named as president.
"We are all very excited to be reopening the shelter and to begin helping animals in need," he said in a news release.
"The Board is confident in the revitalization efforts that took place and are eager to resume full operations on June 28th."
About 25 cats and kittens will be available for adoption around noon Monday, said THS spokesman Ian McConachie.
The cats were accepted last week from the Toronto Cat Rescue, he said.
The THS' satellite location at 2802 Victoria Park is expected to open later this week.
