A man who faces attempted murder charges after two teens were pushed onto subway tracks was delayed on his way to court Tuesday morning.

When Adenir DeOliveira did appear in court later in the afternoon for a brief appearance, he was told he would remain in custody until his next court appearance on Friday.

DeOliveira is charged with three counts of attempted murder and two counts of assault after three boys were pushed off the platform at Dufferin Station last Friday.

The suspect has been in custody since his arrest Friday afternoon.

During a court appearance on the weekend, DeOliveira, 47, was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

On Friday afternoon, a group of friends was waiting for an eastbound train when a man suddenly pushed three of them toward the tracks.

Only two of the boys landed on the tracks, and they rolled into a crawl space as an approaching train pulled into the station.

One of the boys suffered foot injuries that have required surgery. He has been identified as 15-year-old Jacob Greenspon, son of Globe and Mail editor-in-chief Edward Greenspon.

Two other boys began chasing the suspect and they alerted TTC officials about the incident. TTC fare collector Russell Cormier and a commuter chased the suspect for two blocks before tackling him to the ground outside a restaurant.

Cormier visited Greenspon at the Hospital for Sick Children on Monday.
