A young man accused in the shooting deaths of a Prince Edward County mother and daughter will be back in court on May 12.

Dean Brown, 18, of Belleville, was remanded in custody following his appearance in a Picton, Ont. courtroom on Wednesday.

He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the March 12 deaths of Tracey Hannah, 46, and her daughter Whitney, 14.

They were discovered dead inside their Mountain View home.

Brown also faces a charge of attempted murder in connection with the shooting of Shannon Hannah, 18. According to friends, he is Shannon's former boyfriend.

The accused is being held at the Quinte Detention Centre in Napanee.

According to some reports, his cell is next to that of Col. Russell Williams, the former commanding officer of CFB Trenton. He faces two first-degree murder charges in connection with the deaths of two Quinte West-area women and two of sexual assault on two others.

Williams allegedly attempted suicide this past weekend, according to one newspaper report. However, detention centre officials would neither confirm nor deny the report to CTV Ottawa.

No allegations against Brown or Williams have been proven in a court of law.
