Igor Kenk, granted bail after being charged in connection with a huge number of stolen bicycles this summer, was arrested Sunday and is facing more charges.
Toronto police said they responded to a call near Dufferin Street and Wallace Avenue Sunday afternoon, where residents alleged someone swung a metal pipe at them while attempting to remove property from their home.
Police said the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle and was arrested.
Kenk has been charged with assault with a weapon and two counts of assault, police said in a statement.
Kenk is scheduled to appear in court Monday for a bail hearing.
Toronto Police Staff Sgt. David Woodley of 14 Division told ctvtoronto.ca said the incident in question has nothing to do with bicycle theft.
In July, investigators arrested Kenk, 49, and another man in connection with the theft and possession of stolen bicycles -- about 3,200 in total scattered at 16 different locations.
Kenk also faces drug-related charges. Police allege they found cocaine and marijuana during raids they carried out.
The accused faces a total of 58 charges.
A judge granted Kenk bail in early August -- to the tune of $275,000.
Kenk was to be under house arrest with one of his three sureties -- people who had vouched for him.
Some of the other conditions included:
- Staying away from his now-defunct business at 927 Queen St. W.
- not possessing any bicycles
- surrendering his passport
- not leaving Ontario
The judge also ordered Kenk to undergo a psychological assessment, be assessed for substance abuse and to get treatment if necessary.
Jeanie Chung, Kenk's 37-year-old wife of seven years, also faces drug and stolen-property charges.
The couple had been living in a rented home in Yorkville.
None of the charges against Kenk or Chung have been proven in a court of law.
