CAVAN MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, Ont. - Provincial police say seven young students and their school bus driver have been injured in a collision southwest of Peterborough.

Police say the school bus was pushed about 90 metres when it was hit from behind by a van on County Road 28 in South Monaghan.

The seven students, aged 7 to 12, and the bus driver were transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of the van is in hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Ministry of Transport officers attended the collision site and the Ministry of Labour has been notified.

Representatives from the school board and bus line also responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
