More than 30 people are facing drug-related charges after a weekend police raid on two popular after-hours clubs in downtown Toronto.

Early Sunday morning, scores of police officers from the Emergency Task Force, the biker enforcement unit, the guns and gangs squad and other local units, raided the Comfort Zone Bar and Grill and the Silver Dollar.

The clubs are located next to each other on Spadina Avenue, just north of College Street.

About 150 people were placed under arrest when police came to the scene at 6 a.m. The ones who were charged were taken to 14 Division for processing.

Police say heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, ketamine and GHB, with a total value of $30,000, were seized during the raid along with $35,000 in cash.

The police investigation, dubbed Project White Rabbit, began in January after a patron of one of the establishments, Andrew Fazio, died. His death was linked to drugs.

His sister Sarah and mother Karen spoke to reporters at a news conference Monday saying they were pleased the problem was being addressed.

"I don't want another family to feel the way we feel," said Sarah through her tears. "I don't want another sister to feel the loss of a brother."

The investigation is probing possible biker gang activity, sales of prohibited weapons and the distribution of popular street drugs such as cocaine and ecstacy.

Police say there will likely be more raids and arrests in the weeks ahead.
