Residents of a north-end apartment complex woke up Thursday to find a number of cars in an underground parking lot had been vandalized, and their contents stolen.

The windows of 20 cars were smashed in the underground lot of an Eglinton Avenue and Don Mills Road area apartment complex overnight.

Some victims reported that the thief or thieves grabbed loose change, CDs and GPS systems before escaping.

Others complained that while the value of the stolen items was low, the aggravation of dealing with the damage was high.

Some of the car owners were forced to take a day off work to deal with the hassle; others will be forced to pay $500 deductibles.

Show-and-tell for items seized during theft investigations

Toronto police say that they are dusting for finger prints and reviewing security footage from the area as they track down the culprits.

Elsewhere in Toronto, officers in the Danforth Avenue area are holding a show-and-tell for a collection of items that was seized during various car theft investigations.

Investigators in 55 Division are asking anyone who has had their vehicle broken into and property taken to attend a viewing at 101 Coxwell Avenue on either Thursday or Friday, between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Police ask that those affected come prepared with police report numbers, descriptions and/or photographs of any stolen items.
