A 19-year-old cyclist has died in hospital from his injuries following a hit-and-run at Pollock and Kennedy roads in Georgina around 3 a.m. Sunday, York Regional Police say.

Police are now looking for the vehicle believed to have been involved in the collision -- a silver or dark grey Nissan or Infinity with front-end damage.

Det. Const. Anthony Emanuel said they are looking for a car with damage to the undercarriage parts and paint chip damage.

The brother of the young victim said the two of them had been cycling along that stretch of road since Grade 9 with no problems, always riding with traffic as they were supposed to.

The young man left a friend’s house about 3 a.m, and was found on the country road gravely injured sometime before 4 a.m.

Police believe he was when he was struck, going eastbound along Pollock, likely in the middle of the lane. The vehicle left no skid marks, leading police to believe the driver did not stop after the collision.

Police are asking people with information on the hit-and-run to call @YRP 1-866-876-5423 x 7704 or, Crime Stoppers at @1800222TIPS. #GTAcrime
