BUFFALO, N.Y. - Authorities say 11 people have been rescued from a sinking boat on the Canadian side of the Niagara River.

Lt. Carolyn Moberley of the U.S. Coast Guard station at Buffalo says the coast guard and Buffalo police were alerted to a sinking vessel shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday.

Moberley says the yacht struck some rocks in Canadian waters south of the Peace Bridge.

The boat was nearly half filled with water when authorities reached it.

All 11 people were transferred onto Buffalo police and coast guard watercraft and taken to a Buffalo dock.

No injuries were reported.
