TORONTO - A York regional police officer has been charged in connection with the arrest of a man earlier this year.

Toronto police say York officers were involved in an investigation in the city's west end on March 30 when one officer gave chase to a fleeing man.

Police say the canine unit was involved in the search for the man who was found shortly thereafter.

Toronto police allege the man was assaulted during the arrest.

Const. Michael Partridge, 35, was charged with assault and assault with a weapon.

He is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Oct. 27.
