THOROLD, Ont. - A man is charged after a Thorold woman had her throat slashed as she was taking out cash at an ATM in Thorold.

Police say the woman was approached from behind by a knife-wielding man at the Royal Bank on Front Street South about 8:30 p.m. Friday.

The robber demanded her cash and purse, and her neck was slashed as she fought back and her purse was stolen.

The man tried to flee but witnesses led police to a suspect and they made an arrest.

The woman was treated in hospital and released.

Charged with one count of robbery is Colin Laws, 35, of Thorold.
