A 61-year-old woman is dead after a shooting in Toronto’s Riverdale neighbourhood on Saturday evening.

Toronto Police said they were called to the area of Dundas Street East and Munro Street, east of the Don River, at about 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, for several calls about numerous gunshots heard in the area.

Paramedics said a woman found outside of a townhouse was pronounced dead at the scene.

Det. Sgt. Hank Idsinga said the victim was a 61-year-old grandmother. Her identity is being withheld at this time.

“I find it hard to imagine that she was the intended target (of the shooting),” Idsinga said.

Residents told CP24 at the scene that they heard between 7 to 10 gunshots.

Idsinga said police had found bullet impacts on multiple townhomes in the area.

Police are looking for two armed young males who fled the scene on foot northbound towards Dundas Street, Idsinga said.
