A Brampton, Ont. man is charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder after a double stabbing at a home on Kingknoll Drive Tuesday night.

The incident left one woman dead and a second man suffering life-threating injuries.

Iqbal Singh, 46, turned himself in to Peel Regional Police Wednesday morning after a Canada-wide warrant was issued.

When police arrived at the residence in the Steeles Avenue and Mavis Road area after 10 p.m. Tuesday, they found two people who had been stabbed multiple times.

Both victims were rushed to hospital.

Annita Summan, 51, died of her injuries. The other victim, 46-year-old Gurcharan Doal, was treated for serious injuries.

Police say Singh, Summan's second husband, was at her home Tuesday night, where she lives with her daughter and Doal's nephew.

An argument broke out between Singh and the two victims when Doal arrived to drop off his nephew.

Police allege the argument escalated and a knife was pulled out.

The Brampton family is no stranger to tragedy.

Summan's first husband and father of her two children died 12 years ago.

And last year, Summan's son Rinku died when a cargo plane crashed in Afghanistan. Neighbours say she was planning a trip to India with her son's ashes.

Singh is set to appear in court on Thursday.
