A woman was arrested for assault after an argument broke out in a parking lot in Mississauga on Saturday night.

Mohsin Sheikh was with his girlfriend at Square One Shopping Centre, located at Hurontario Street and Highway 403, around 6:45 p.m.

In a cellphone video captured by Sheikh, a woman is seen trying to reserve an underground parking spot without her vehicle. She was standing on the spot, holding it for a friend, when Sheikh said he drove by and asked the woman to move so that he could park there.

Sheikh said the woman then yelled racial slurs at him, one of which was captured in the video. A second woman who noticed Sheikh was filming the incident can be heard saying, “What? He’s holding a camera?” as she walked over.

According to Sheikh, the second woman punched him as the camera was being turned off.

A 25-year-old Mississauga woman was arrested at the scene for assault, Peel Regional Police confirmed.

The derogatory terms were filed in the complaint, according to police.
