If you're lucky enough to have Family Day Monday off, here are a few important closures to keep in mind.

Family Day is not a national statutory holiday, observed only in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan and B.C. Because the holiday isn't observed across Canada, all federal offices including post offices will still be open on Monday.

Here's a list of other businesses that are open:

  • Some malls, including the Toronto Eaton Centre, Hillcrest Mall, Square One and Vaughan Mills
  • Most restaurants
  • Tourist attractions, including the Toronto Zoo, Ontario Science Centre, CN Tower and Ripley's Aquarium of Canada
  • Most museums, including the Royal Ontario Museum and Art Gallery of Ontario
  • Movie theatres

The following are closed:

  • Some malls, including Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Scarborough Town Centre, Cloverdale Mall, Sherway Gardens, Shops at Don Mills (restaurants will be open), East York Town Centre and Fairview Mall
  • Schools
  • All Beer Store and LCBO locations
  • Most banks
  • Public libraries

Transit schedules altered

GO Transit is operating on its Saturday schedule.

The TTC is operating on its usual holiday schedule.

Garbage pick-up

It's business as usual for garbage pickup but there won't be any collection at city parks and drop-off depots will be closed across the city.
