A family-owned tire shop in Toronto's Jane-and-Finch area was accidently left unlocked over the weekend, but the store was not robbed. Instead, a Good Samaritan called police and helped close-up shop.

On Saturday, the owner of Tires Tires Limited, Diego Catala, forgot to lock-up. The shop's alarm system was also disabled and the building was left vulnerable to robbers.

The shop's security surveillance cameras, however, were still rolling. For three hours, video footage showed customers wandering into the store, and then leaving when they realized no one was there.

Police were finally notified of the unlocked tire store when a man described as a "regular" customer looked around for a contact phone number to call. When he couldn’t find one, the man flipped over the store's closed sign in the front window and called police.

Catala says nothing was stolen.

"No one touched a single thing. They didn’t lay a hand on anything," he told CTV Toronto on Tuesday.

He adds that the man who called police will get a new set of tires for his honesty.
