If you are looking for a fun way to spend the day outside, this weekend is for you. Not so much if you are looking for a smooth commute around town, however.

A handful of outdoor events, including Woofstock, Portugal Day and the Toronto Challenge Run, will close roads around Toronto this weekend

Woofstock, an annual dog-friendly outdoor party, will close downtown roadways from Friday at 6:30 p.m. to Sunday at noon. Expect closures along:

  • Front Street, from Yonge Street to Jarvis Street
  • Wellington Street, from Church Street to Scott Street
  • Church Street, from Colborne Street to The Esplanade
  • Market Street, from Front Street to The Esplanade.

On Saturday, the Ride to Conquer Cancer will close Lake Shore Boulevard, from Strachan Avenue to Windemere Avenue, and Windemere Avenue from Lake Shore Boulevard to The Queensway, between 6:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Portugal Day will close Lansdown Avenue between Bloor and College streets between 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Port Union Waterfront Festival will also close Port Union Road from Shoalhaven Drive to Bridgend Street between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday.

The closures will continue on Sunday, when the Toronto Challenge Run takes place between 8 a.m. and noon. The run will close Wellington Street, from Simcoe Street to John Street, as well as causing sporadic closures and delays in the area bounded by Wellington Street in the north, Bathurst Street in the west, Queen's Quay in the south and York Street to the east.

The Festival on Bloor will also close Bloor Street, from Spadina Avenue to Bathurst Street, on Sunday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
