Toronto police have released an audio recording that may prove to be the last words Munit Walia uttered before he was gunned down in his pregnant girlfriend's driveway last month.

Police have posted a conversation between the 27-year-old victim and the person who may be his killer on YouTube.

Moments before Walia was shot, he made a phone call and was about to leave a message when someone approached his vehicle and accosted him.

Walia identified the person approaching his car as someone by the name of "Blanks."

Police are asking the public to listen to the audio in order to decipher the conversation and to identify "Blanks."

"The homicide squad is taking unprecedented steps in sharing a portion of that message with the public in the hope that the media and the public will assist us in identifying the male caught on the small portion of the audio, the male identified as Blanks," Det. Sgt. Pauline Gray said during a press conference on Thursday.

Walia was gunned down at 9 p.m. on July 30 in the Martingrove Road and Finch Avenue West area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact homicide investigators Det. Sgt. Pauline Gray at 416-808-7412 or Det. Ian Briggs at 416-808-7816, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or online at www.222tips.com.
