A male victim is in hospital following an overnight stabbing in the Woodbridge neighbourhood of Vaughan.

York Regional Police were called to the area of Rutherford Road and Highway 27 shortly before 2 a.m. on Monday.

Few details have been provided, but police said an altercation occurred and a male victim was stabbed. The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the suspect fled the scene, but was soon tracked down by a canine unit. The suspect will be charged with aggravated assault.
