The victim in a brazen shooting in the city’s Dovercourt Park neighbourhood on Friday night remains in hospital in critical but stable condition, police say.

According to Const. David Hopkinson, the 43-year-old victim was sitting in his vehicle in a parking lot near Bloor Street and Gladstone Avenue when a light blue sedan pulled up alongside him at around 7:30 p.m.

At that point, Hopkinson says that a passenger got out of the sedan and opened fire. The victim was struck by multiple bullets and possibly other shrapnel, according to Hopkinson.

The suspect then got back into the sedan and fled the area.

The victim was initially taken to hospital with serious injuries, however on Saturday Hopkinson classified his condition as critical but stable.

Police say they do not have a description of the suspect at this point.
