LAKESHORE, ON - A provincial police officer saved two teens Wednesday night who were being smashed by waves into the breakwall at the Lakeshore Marina.

Const. Dan Pillon found the 14-year-old boys in the water at the Belle River Pier.

The boys were fighting metre-high swells and 18 C water and were hanging onto a towel which was lowered by a passerby.

The teens from Lakeshore, Ont., were exhausted and cold from trying to fight the waves that were smashing them against the breakwall.

Pillon and an off-duty firefighter took over, got some rope and the pair climbed down a ladder and tied the rope around each teen.

Pillon had to partially enter the water to tie the rope and pull the youths up by their bathing trunks.

Both teens were checked by paramedics and were released with abrasions to their legs and arms.
