Two young offenders are in police custody after a group of intruders barged into a Scarborough apartment on Sunday evening, pistol-whipping a person and stealing valuables.

Police said five people broke into an apartment at 4010 Lawrence Avenue East near Kingston Road just after 9 p.m. wearing masks.

One of the intruders was brandishing a handgun and used it to pistol-whip a man inside the apartment, police said.

A cell phone, various pieces of jewelry and other valuables were reportedly stolen during the invasion.

Police said two young offenders have been taken into custody and three other suspects are being sought.

The teen suspects face several charges, including armed robbery, being in a dwelling unlawfully and wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence.

While Toronto saw a wave of home invasions in the city's northeast end last spring, police said that Sunday's incident appears to be isolated.
