ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Two St. Catharines, Ont., residents are in hospital with serious injuries after an SUV smashed through an apartment wall and into their bedroom.

Niagara Region police say a 72-year-old St. Catharines man lost control of his SUV on Sunday afternoon, jumped a curb and struck an apartment building.

Police say the Jeep Grand Cherokee crashed through a west facing wall into a ground floor bedroom where the two residents were asleep.

Neighbours in the building came to the aid of the 32-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, who suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Jeep was not hurt.

No names have been released and police say the crash remains under investigation.
