HAMILTON, Ont. -- Police are looking for witnesses after a head-on collision Friday in Hamilton, Ont., killed two male drivers and sent three girls to hospital.

Police say both drivers died when a GMC Terrain SUV collided with a Mazda Protege just after midnight (on Highway 56 south of Golf Club Road) in the city's south end.

They say a 42-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy -- both from Hamilton -- were killed.

Their names have not been released.

Police say a 10-year-old girl and two 15-year-old girls travelling in the SUV have been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Hamilton police collision reconstruction unit continues to investigate the collision.

Police are seeking witnesses and anyone with information about the crash is being asked to contact police.

Though investigators do not yet know if alcohol was a factor in the collision, police Chief Glenn de Caire told CP24 the force still wants to make sure people get the message not to drink and drive.

"We want to encourage anybody that is out and (where) there is alcohol consumed, have a designated driver, take a taxi cab, stay at the location where you are and please do not get behind the wheel of a car," he said.
