Starting this fall, the TTC will improve off-peak service for 33 bus and streetcar routes around Toronto.

At an announcement Monday morning at Finch Station, Mayor John Tory and TTC Chair Josh Colle said the improvements will provide “more frequent, less crowded and more comfortable service” for bus and streetcar riders.

The increased service, set to begin in September, will be funded by a $95-million investment in the 2015 transit budget, according to Tory.

The TTC says these improvements will attract an estimated 1.8 million new customer trips each year.

Tory says the service improvements are a “reverse of off-peak services cuts that were made in February 2012.” This is when then-mayor Rob Ford made cuts to service routes.
