GUELPH, Ont. -- A 54-year-old Toronto woman is dead after the car she was travelling in crashed into a concrete median on Highway 401 just south of Guelph.

Provincial police say the vehicle was heading westbound near Highway 6 on Sunday when it left the roadway and went into the right ditch.

The car then returned to the highway and collided with the centre concrete median.

The woman, who police say was a rear seat passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The three other people in the vehicle were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No names have been released. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact provincial police.
