Police have issued an arrest warrant for a man who performed low-cost dental work inside a Toronto home.

Investigators say the man is an unlicensed dentist who pulled teeth and made dentures and bridges in the basement operation in the Jane Street and Lawrence Avenue West area.

Officers shut down the home dental operation on Thursday, but the suspect has not been found.

Police say the suspect represents himself as a licensed dentist who worked in Kosovo prior to his arrival in Canada. He also operates so-called dentist offices in Ottawa and Gatineau, Que., and targets residents in the community looking for cheap dental work, investigators said.

A search warrant has been issued for 50-year-old Gzim Bytyqi. Police say he represents himself as Dr. Jimmy Connolly.

Bytyqi faces charges of fraud, criminal negligence causing bodily harm and several offences under the Dentistry Act and the Regulated Health Professions Act.

Anyone who may have visited Bytyqi for dental work is being asked to call police at 416-808-1204.
