A veteran detective with Toronto police's sex crimes unit has been charged in an alleged domestic assault.

The incident is alleged to have occurred on Tuesday afternoon at an address on Newholme Road, according to a Toronto Police Service news release issued on Wednesday.

Police say that the accused went to the location where she allegedly confronted and assaulted one person.

When a second person tried to intervene, that person was also allegedly assaulted.

Kimberly Hancock, 45, of Toronto faces three charges of assault.

She has 19 years experience with the service.

Hancock is scheduled to appear in a Finch Ave. W. court on Nov. 6.

The service's Const. Isabel Cotton told CTV.ca Toronto that Hancock was off duty when the alleged incident occurred.

Otherwise, the service isn't releasing any further information, she said.
