TORONTO - A Toronto man is in critical condition in hospital after he was ejected from his vehicle in an early-morning crash in the city's west end.

OPP say the accident occurred in the southbound lanes of Highway 427 at Highway 401 around 1:35 a.m.

Police say the man was travelling at a high rate of speed when the vehicle he was driving left the roadway and rolled numerous times.

The vehicle came to rest after hitting a steel guard rail along the right shoulder.

The driver was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, while a male passenger was treated for minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
