TORONTO - A 74-year-old woman who was hit by a pick-up truck while crossing a street north of downtown Toronto has died of her injuries.

The unidentified woman was hit in a pedestrian crosswalk at about 5 p.m. Monday by a truck turning onto Avenue Rd.

Toronto police say the woman suffered chest, head and pelvic injuries and died in hospital about six hours after the accident.

The pedestrian death is the third in Toronto so far this year.

Two people were killed last Saturday within an hour at opposite ends of the city.

A 31-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle as she got off a bus in the east end and a 75-year-old man crossing a west end street was hit by a van.
