A Toronto caregiver is facing more than a dozen charges after police say he sexually abused children belonging to two families over a five year period.
Police say they began their investigation sometime in September of 2015 after a family reported that a 40-year-old man they had entrusted with their children had been sexually abusing them.
They said the man “gained their trust” in some fashion before he started to act as the children’s caregiver.
A suspect was arrested by officers with Toronto Police’s Child and Youth Advocacy Centre on Oct. 5, 2017.
Through a continued investigation, police say they became aware of a similar situation involving a separate family.
They allege that sometime between May 2012 and Sept. 2014, the same man befriended and gained the trust of another family. During that time, police say he “used his position of trust” to sexually assault a child.
Police re-arrested and charged the same man on Wednesday.
A suspect, identified as Kevin Marsh, is facing a total of 21 charges.
The charges include four counts of assault, six counts of sexual assault and six counts of sexual interference.
He appeared in court on Oct. 5 but is due back at Old City Hall on Nov. 16.
Police say they’re concerned there may be more victims and urge anyone who recognizes the suspect to phone them or Crime Stoppers.
