A 17-year-old boy is dead and another teenager is seriously injured after a vehicle collided with a pack of cyclists in Innisfil, Ont., just south of Barrie, early Saturday morning.

Police received a call at about 1:30 a.m. indicating that a collision between a vehicle and a group of three cyclists had occurred on Innisfil Beach Road.

Emergency responders arrived to find two of the cyclists suffering serious injuries. Both received medical treatment at the scene before being transported to hospital.

One of the injured cyclists died a short time later, according to a news release issued by South Simcoe Police Services. The other injured cyclist, a 16-year-old boy, remains in hospital with serious injuries.

A third cyclist was unharmed, police said.
