After months of watching Toronto's new streetcars mosey around the city, not in service, TTC commuters will finally be able to start riding the vehicles at the end of the month.

However, riders looking for a sneak peek can check out the new vehicles in a video released Wednesday by TTC.

"It's a hugely exciting time for Toronto and for our streetcar customers," said TTC CEO Andy Byford. "These are state-of-the-art vehicles. We've put a lot of thought into getting the design right."

The TTC has ordered 204 of the new vehicles, which are air-conditioned, sevenmetres longer and with a much higher capacity. They will also be fully accessible with wheelchair ramps that can be deployed to traffic islands or the street.

There will also be bicycle storage that can be used during off-peak hours.

For customers tired of waiting to board, the vehicles are designed for people to exit and board from all four doors.

The new vehicles willfirst be introduced Aug. 31 on the 510 Spadina line. The TTC will phase in the rest of the new vehicles over the next five years.
