A strike has been averted at the University of Toronto after a tentative agreement was reached between the university and teaching assistants overnight.

A union representative announced that a deal had been reached shortly before 3 a.m.

Details of the deal will be revealed to members of CUPE Local 3902 Unit 1 on Friday afternoon, then the members will vote to ratify the agreement.

Meanwhile, teaching assistants at York University continue to negotiate a deal with the school. Talks are expected to last until Sunday.
