Even a vicious snowstorm couldn't slow Toronto's condo mania on Saturday as buyers made their way downtown to get a piece of some hot real estate.

Residents had their first crack at buying units at Aura Condominiums at College Park, located at Yonge and Gerrard Streets.

Developer Canderel Stoneridge says the skyscraper will be the tallest residential tower in Canada.

The first three levels of the 75-storey building will be retail space, while the remainder will house approximately 920 units, which range in price from $300,000 to close to $2 million.

Some real estate agents lined up for two weeks, and even paid people to stand in line for them, in order to secure units.

About 200 buyers and their agents came to Aura Condominiums on Saturday to purchase the first block of 250 units.

"I think it's a very good place (in the) centre of Toronto, in downtown, so it's a special place," said buyer Yunchi Go.

Another block of units is expected to be up for sale soon.

Toronto's condo fever erupted into pushing and shoving in November when units at 1 Bloor went on sale. Tempers flared when people who had waited in line for a week tried to move up a few spots closer to the front. Police officers were on hand to monitor the crowd and maintain peace.
