ST. CATHARINES, Ont. -- A St. Catharines man is facing sexual assault and child luring charges after a police investigation in the southern Ontario city.

Niagara regional police say they were contacted last week about an alleged sexual assault on a girl under 14 years old.

It's alleged the girl was initially contacted on a social media website and was then sexually assaulted in the early morning hours of Feb. 11 in St. Catharines.

Jeremy Lane, 24, was arrested Tuesday and charged with nine offences, including sexual assault, sexual interference, luring a child, exposure to a person under 16 and possession of child pornography.
