The southbound Don Valley Parkway has reopened after a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning left one man dead and another in hospital with serious injuries.

The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. when a pickup truck lost control in the southbound lanes at Spanbridge Road near Eglinton Avenue, plowed through a guardrail and landed in a shallow ditch.

An 18-year-old teen was pronounced dead at the scene while a 19-year-old was seriously injured. He is reported to be in stable condition in hospital. Their names have not been released.

After the surviving teen claimed there was a third person in the vehicle, police searched the area but did not find anyone.

The southbound lanes of the DVP were closed between Eglinton Avenue and Don Mills Road for a few hours Saturday morning as police investigated but reopened a few hours later.

There is no word yet on the cause of the crash.
