Police have arrested and charged the son of a man who was found dead in a Richmond Hill home on the weekend.

The man's body was found shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday, at a home on Harding Boulevard. The home is in the area of Yonge Street and Major Mackenzie Drive.

York Regional Police said the man was found with "obvious signs of trauma" on his body. He was later identified as 77-year-old Robert Veltheer.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Monday, officers arrested and charged 30-year-old Jacob Veltheer with first-degree murder.

The suspect was spotted by officers walking on Highway 48 near Holborn Road in East Gwillimbury, Ont. He was arrested without incident.

The charge against him has not been proven in court.

Toronto-area police are also investigating four other deaths that occurred within a 24 hour period.

A teenager was killed in Mississauga at approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday. Two hours later, a 22-year-old was fatally stabbed in Vaughan.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., a 33-year-old died in a shooting in Brampton, then at 6:30 a.m., Toronto police found the body of a Toronto man in the city's east end.
