BRADFORD, Ont. - A 14-year-old boy is facing a robbery charge after police say social media helped lead them to a suspect in a store holdup in a southern Ontario community.
South Simcoe police say a teen was captured on video robbing a convenience store Friday in Bradford, southeast of Barrie.
They say the store clerk was threatened with a hatchet but was not injured.
Pictures from the store video were posted on Twitter and Facebook, and police say that generated a number of calls to Crime Stoppers.
Detectives following up on the tips then arrested a Bradford teen.
The boy, who cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with one count of robbery.
