The Special Investigations Unit wants the public’s help to identify a man who was fatally shot in June along a rail corridor in Toronto’s west end.
The 42-year-old man was fatally shot after getting into a confrontation with police on June 17 around 6:40 a.m.. There were reports he was armed with a knife at the time.
The incident occurred near West Road and Starview Lane, just north of Weston and Albion roads.
“The officers were attempting to arrest a man for trespassing under the Rail Safety Act,” SIU spokesperson Jason Gennaro told reporters at the time of the shooting. “There was a confrontation and a short time after, one officer discharged a firearm. A conducted energy weapon was also discharged.”
The SIU assigned seven investigators and three forensic investigators to the case, but the man has still not been identified.
On Wednesday, the SIU released a picture of the man along with his reported aliases, which include John Doe, Roy Norman, Chung Nu and Jonathan Grant.
