TORONTO -- Ontario's police watchdog is investigating the death of a 16-year-old girl in Toronto's west end early this morning.
The Special Investigations Unit says police were called to an apartment building (near Bloor Street and Islington Avenue) just after 12 a.m.
The SIU says officers arrived to see the girl hanging from a balcony on the 14th floor.
The watchdog says the girl fell to the ground after police tried to talk to her from an adjacent balcony.
An autopsy is scheduled for this afternoon.
The SIU investigates all incidents involving police and the public that result in death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
