BRAMPTON, Ont. -- Ontario's police watchdog is investigating after a man was bitten by a police dog and Tasered following a crash northwest of Toronto.
The Special Investigations Unit says Peel region police began following a tractor-trailer in Mississauga and attempted to stop it in Brampton.
The SIU says there was a collision between the truck and a police cruiser in the process.
It says that shortly after the driver was removed from the truck, he was bitten on the leg by a police dog and Tasered.
The agency says the man was taken to hospital to be treated for the bite and a neck injury.
The SIU is an arm's-length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been a death, serious injury or alleged sexual assault.
