The TTC halted service on the Scarborough RT during this morning's rush hour after a damaged train had to be evacuated.

Initially, the TTC reported a power-off situation at Scarborough Centre Station shortly before 8 a.m. and subsequently suspended service on Line 3. Full service resumed at around noon.

TTC spokesperson Stuart Green told CP24 via phone that officials cancelled service after a train sustained some sort of damage near Midland Station. Crews evacuated 129 people from the train as a result.

Green said it’s not yet clear what caused the damage, adding that it may be a mechanical issue.

As a result of the suspension, the TTC called in 23 shuttle buses to operate along Line 3.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.
