A school bus driver was charged with careless driving after he was spotted travelling in the wrong direction on a one-way street in Scarborough on Thursday morning.

Police say that the driver was pulled over on Mornelle Court near Morningside Avenue and Ellesmere Road at around 8:30 a.m. after an officer observed him travelling towards oncoming traffic on the one-way street.

Police say that it appears as though the driver was attempting to take a shortcut when he was stopped.

There were four children on board the school bus at the time.

The identity of the driver, described as a man in his 40s, has not been released by police.
